Lead UX Designer
- Gdansk · Hybrid
- Full-time · B2B
We’re looking for a Lead UX Designer who combines thoughtful product design with the ability to bring out the best in others. Someone who can turn complex business processes into intuitive experiences, guide product decisions, and stay close to the craft.
Lab1 is a boutique digital product design studio where exceptional aesthetics meet thoughtful product thinking. Our experience includes designing digital products for Circle K, Cognite, and Rezolve.
You’ll join a long-term B2B platform project for one of our clients, working with their business stakeholders and engineers. You won’t be on your own: there’s already a UX Designer and a UI Designer on the project, and you’ll be the one leading the three of you.
Your role:
Most of your time goes into the product itself — discovery, design, and the decisions that shape it. On top of that, you’ll:
- Support and develop the two designers. Regular feedback and 1:1s, help when they’re stuck, and room for them to grow.
- Look after the client relationship. The whole team works with the client day to day — you make sure the collaboration runs well, lead the key workshops and presentations, and keep everyone aligned on priorities.
And you’ll have backup: Lab1’s founder works alongside you, so you’re never figuring things out alone.
What you’ll do:
- Shape product direction. Connect user needs, business goals, and technical constraints to identify opportunities and help stakeholders prioritise.
- Lead research and discovery. Run interviews, workshops, and usability tests, turning findings into clear recommendations.
- Design hands-on. Create information architecture, user flows, wireframes, and interactive prototypes for complex workflows.
- Guide design through delivery. Set priorities, run critiques, collaborate with engineers, and review the implemented experience.
- Use AI thoughtfully. Apply AI to research synthesis, exploration, and functional prototyping, critically evaluating the results.
- Help the team thrive. Provide mentoring, actionable feedback, and regular 1:1s. Address challenges early and follow through on agreed actions.
- Help us work better. Share what you learn and bring ideas to the founder on how we run projects and share knowledge.
What you bring:
- Strong UX craft. A portfolio of shipped digital products showing clear thinking, thoughtful interaction design, and your contribution from discovery through delivery.
- Confidence with complexity. Experience with B2B software, enterprise platforms, ERP/CRM systems, or products with similarly demanding workflows.
- Product judgment. You can challenge assumptions, explain trade-offs, and turn research into decisions that serve users and the business.
- Practical leadership experience. You’ve guided designers, supported their development, and helped a team deliver better work.
- Strong collaboration skills. You’re comfortable facilitating workshops, presenting recommendations, and having constructive conversations with clients and colleagues.
- Fluency in Figma and prototyping. You can communicate interaction details clearly and work effectively with UI designers and design systems.
- Hands-on AI experience. You can show how AI supports your workflow, where it adds value, and how you maintain quality.
- Ownership and follow-through. You create clarity, take initiative, and move agreed priorities forward independently.
- Fluent Polish and English.
How we work:
We’re looking for someone based in Gdansk or within commuting distance: at least two days a week at the Lab1 office alongside the founder, plus one day at our client’s office nearby. The remaining days can be remote.
What we offer:
- A long-term product engagement with room to see your work evolve.
- A small, experienced team and direct collaboration with the founder.
- Meaningful influence on product decisions, design quality, and team development.
- An education budget and regular knowledge-sharing sessions.
Show us how you think:
Send your portfolio and CV to hello@lab1.design. Show us a complex problem you helped solve, explain your contribution, and tell us about your experience supporting other designers.
